Personal FM Units

What is a personal FM unit?

FM systems transmit sound from the speaker's microphone to the listener's receiver via radio waves (frequency modulation), generally on 72-76MHz frequencies. The speaker wears a compact transmitter and a microphone, while the listener uses a portable receiver with headphone or earphone. They are ideal for classroom/meeting use and work well both indoors and outdoors. If multiple FM systems are used near each other, separate broadcast frequencies should be used as FM signals are not limited to line of sight and can penetrate walls and ceilings.

Students with unilateral hearing loss or central auditory processing difficulties often use personal FM units to focus more completely on the teacher. For this reason, they are also used for students with ADHD and learning disabilities. Durable and simply to use, they are easily carried from classroom to classroom during the school day, while riding in the car, watching TV or interacting with family members.

Amigo T5/R5

The Amigo T5/R5 is a cost-effective body-worn FM solution, perfect for demanding environments. A simple user interface and clear controls make it readily accessible and highly reliable. And a wide variety of accessories support a broad range of applications, from being an FM system for conventional hearing instruments to a solution for children with CAPD and minimal hearing loss.

Certainty
The Amigo R5 provides instant LED confirmation that the transmitted signal is received, the system is charging, or that the transmitter is muted. On the R5, both channel and volume settings can be locked in order to prevent unwanted tampering.
Durability
A durable casing equips the T5 and R5 to withstand continuous use. And a strong belt clip keeps the unit securely fastened during wear. All components have been thoroughly tested in compliance with all relevant international and company standards.
Flexibility
The Amigo T5 and R5 function with any other receiver or transmitter in the Amigo family. The T5 can also
be used as secondary transmitter together with Amigo T21 in a team teaching setup.
The Amigo R5 offers multiple options for headphones, Direct Audio Input and CI connection, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
Convenience
Straightforward easy-to-use function push buttons and a clear display window secure hassle-free operation. The system runs on both rechargeable NiMH as well as non-rechargeable
alkaline batteries, so down-time can be kept to a minimum.
A simple Mute/Un-mute push button enables prompt microphone On/Off functionality.
