Fundraising - The Cora Barclay Centre continues to respond to medical and technological developments in deafness. In the past year we have created a vibrant and family-friendly service providing a one-stop shop in a home like environment for the many parents with very young babies who come on service. We are proud of the fact that no family is ever put on a waiting list and that auditory-verbal therapy is available for all students enrolled in mainstream schools. We offer heartfelt thanks to our supporters for making this possible. The Cora Barclay Fundraising Department - this small team has a group of dedicated volunteers, whose skills and experience have helped in a range of areas. We acknowledge and thank Salesforce, who have provided data base software for our organization. Without volunteer support involvement in events such as Telethon, the ABC 891 Car Park Caper, Adelaide Rock n Roll Festival and Carols by Candlelight, would not be possible. Trusts and Foundations - the Centre has been fortunate to receive a range of grants. A special thanks to the Newman’s Own Foundation for providing $97,000 to establish an AVT mentoring and training program, which has had a terrific impact on our early intervention program. Jim and Lea Watson, both highly regarded AVT therapists from America, worked in the early intervention and school support program while also providing AVT training and mentoring for staff. |

| We also thank the Honda Foundation, Coopers Foundation and Morialta Trust for funds to bring the esteemed Dr Christine Perigoe from Canada to provide additional auditory-verbal therapy training; Community Benefit and the Department of Premier and Cabinet for supporting WHISPA – our youth social and mentoring program; Adelaide Bank for a new Toyota Yaris; Australian Hotels Foundation and Adelaide West Rotary for the redevelopment of the children’s play area; and Adelaide West Rotary for our family counselor.
Many thanks also to St Georges Foundation, Myer Foundation, ANZ Bank, Bank SA, HBOS, Ian Potter Foundation, Commonwealth Bank Staff Charitable Fund, Variety the Children’s Charity, Victor Harbour Rotary and the great many individuals who generously donate to the Centre – we salute you! Deaf Kids Talking - In 2007 the alliance of six AVT Centre’s of which we are a member, formed a national fundraising arm ‘Deaf Kids Talking’, with it’s own logo and incorporated and tax deductible status. It was recognized that national branding, to lever sponsorship, generate funds and media opportunities, was needed on a broader scale. This will continue to grow and become an effective tool for the six AVT centre’s across Australia. |
