Early Intervention services
In addition to individual AVT sessions, audiology and family support services, the Cora Barclay Centre offers a number of group programs and activities for children up to 6 years of age and their parents/ caregivers (e.g. grandparents and guardians) designed to assist with their socialization and language development. These are constantly under review to ensure they meet the changing needs of parents and children. Examples include:
- Parent Infant Program (PIP)
parent information and discussion groups for all families with pre-schoolers.
- Parent-Child Language Playgroups
regular small groups at the Centre for infants, toddlers, and preschool children, both hearing and hearing impaired, and their parents. These groups provide an important opportunity for language development and socialisation.
- The Hanen Program
a family focused program for parents of a young child who has a language delay.
Student & School Support Services are provided to primary and secondary school students by our Teachers of the Deaf and Auditory-Verbal specialists and usually take place at the school your child attends.
WHISPA is Cora Barclay Centre’s youth mentoring network. It was established by students who are deaf or hard of hearing to offer support to children during the transition years from primary school to high school.
