Planning & Management -
& how you can participate

The daily running of the Cora Barclay Centre is overseen by a management team who report to a Board of Directors. There are many opportunities for parents and members to participate in planning and running the Centre and its programs. And of course we also welcome offers for volunteer assistance in the office, in fundraising, with various projects and in our programs.

The Board:

John Wicks: (Chair) Community Fundraising;
Property Developer
Peter de Cure: (Vice Chair) Partner, KPMG
Dr John Rice: Retired Cochlear Implant Surgeon
Sarah Carlson: President, Parents & Community Council
Jane Schammer: Partner, Minter Ellison
Angus Irwin: CEO Neutrog Fertilisers
Nicole Haack: Media, Public Relations

Board Standing Committees:

The Board has three standing committees; Finance & Governance; Fundraising & Development; and Programs. Each committee comprises two Board members, the CEO and other relevant staff, and selected parents and associates of the Centre who have skills and experience relevant to the committee generally or to particular issues it may be considering.

Parents & Community Council (P&CC):

The Council is elected at the Annual General Meeting and its President is automatically a member of the Board. The Council has a wide brief to involve parents, older students and friends of the Centre in planning, reviewing services, identifying funding opportunities and otherwise supporting the Centre. The President is Audra Homa.

Community Wheel:

This is an informal, friendly parent group focusing on fundraising and social activities. It is very active and has a lot of fun.

WHISPA:

WHISPA (Web of Hearing Impaired Students and Parents Alliance) provides peer support for hearing impaired students and critically important input to service and program reviews.
