About Marble Hill

Marble Hill was built between 1878 and 1880, and was the Governor's summer residence for 75 years.

On 2 January 1955, during the Black Sunday Bushfires, the home was destroyed and has remained a ruin ever since.

In 2009 the estate was purchased by Edwin Mitchell and Patricia Bishop, who have begun renovating the estate back to its former glory.

Marble Hill Picnic

The Marble Hill Picnic is a beautiful day in the cool heart of the Adelaide Hills.

Set in the fantastic grounds of Marble Hill estate visitors can purchase locally grown or made food and wine from the region's leading artisans.

It is the perfect spot to enjoy the live music, walk around the grounds or just share a picnic with family and friends. There are few places in Adelaide where you can do all this with such amazing views of the hill, plains and sea.

The picnic is a not for profit event, organised and staffed by volunteers. All profits from the day are donated to the Cora Barclay Centre.
