Nicola has been studying and working in the field of deafness and hearing impairment for over 13 years. Nicola joined the CBC team in 1999 as a Teacher of the Deaf. Her special interest is in providing therapy and support to school age clients and watching them grow in confidence and independence. With her colleague Pauline Gardiner in the school support team, Nicola shares responsibility for our annual Further On end-of-year event that showcases our students’ progress and special achievements.

Pauline Gardner

Teacher of the Deaf

Pauline is our most experienced therapist having started at the Centre in 1984 as a Teacher of the Deaf. Pauline works mainly in school support services with children in mainstream classrooms but also has a caseload of older children in the Early Intervention Program. She plays an important role in program review and development as Executive Officer of the Board’s Program Standing Committee.

Stephanie Mazzaferro

Teacher

Qualifications
B.Ed. (JP/P) University of South Australia

Stephanie works in School Support as the Monitor Teacher who works with classroom teachers and school personnel on a consultancy basis, providing information and assistance to students with hearing impairment. Stephanie works in the greater metropolitan Adelaide area. A long distance service is also offered for children beyond the greater metropolitan area. In this case the correspondence occurs through phone, email or video conferencing. In 2012 Stephanie will continue working in School Support as a Monitor Teacher and will begin training to become a Teacher of the Deaf with the support and mentoring of Senior Auditory Verbal Therapist, Rachael Ward. Stephanie will also be studying a Master of Education (Language Intervention and Hearing Impairment) through the University of Melbourne.

Meredith McMeekin

Teacher of the Deaf

Certificate English as a Second Language, CEO Sydney
Dip. T (Primary), NSW
NSW Teaching Certificate 

In August 2006 Meredith moved to Adelaide for her husbands work commitments. At that time she had been working as both a Support Teacher in a Hearing Unit and later as an Itinerant Support Teacher - Hearing. 

She commenced working at the Cora Barclay Centre in 2007, firstly replacing a school support teacher on leave for a six week period and later in 2008 when employed to fill a position made vacant by a departing school support teacher. 

She has continued to work at the Centre on a part time basis (3 days per week) since May 2008.

Currently Meredith is completing language assessments with students as part of a university research project.
