ROBYN PHILLIPS,
B.Ed; B.Sp. Ed (Hearing Impaired); M. Ed (Deafness Studies), Certified in Auditory-Verbal Therapy

Program Manager and Early Intervention A-V Therapist

Robyn started working at the CBC in 1999 as an Auditory-Verbal Therapist.
Before working at the CBC, Robyn was a registered nurse, a high school teacher and a Teacher of the Deaf with the Department of Education.
Robyn has a unique perspective in that her son is profoundly deaf. She and her family received services from the CBC. This sparked her interest in helping other children in South Australia have the same opportunity to learn to listen, speak, and thrive in mainstream education.
“When I show new families around the Centre, I share my strong feelings about the great opportunities here. I hope they will give their child the same amazing gift we received from our experience at the CBC.”

CHRISTINE HENDRIKS,
B.Ed (Early Childhood Education)
Early Childhood Specialist and Auditory-Verbal Therapist Intern
Chris has a passion for helping children who are deaf and hard of hearing address and overcome their disability. She has a profound understanding of the challenges facing these children and their families as her own daughter received services from the CBC when she was in school. Chris’s professional involvement at the Cora Barclay Centre started in 2005 as a teacher assisting in the pre-school groups and doing therapy under the direction of the mentoring Auditory-Verbal Therapist. She is currently finishing her Master’s degree in Deafness Studies at Melbourne University and gaining experience and training toward her certification as an Auditory-Verbal Therapist following the guidelines set up by the Academy for Spoken Language at the Alexander Graham Bell Association.
“It is a privilege to work closely with families and their children and to be able to make a difference in their lives.”

SHARON PRICE
BSc Honours (Audiology); MSpPth (Speech Pathology)
Audiologist, Speech Pathologist, Auditory-Verbal Therapist Intern
Sharon has come to Australia from the U.K. with an exceptional educational background in Audiology. She studied at the University of Wales, Swansea and most of her clinical training was undertaken at the University Hospital of Wales. Sharon was a parent representative for the quality assurance group for Newborn Hearing Screening Wales.

Sharon gained her Masters degree in Speech Pathology from Flinders University of South Australia. Her interest and passion for helping deaf/hard of hearing children and their families stems from an extensive family history of deafness; which include two of her three children. The combination of her Audiology and Speech Pathology knowledge coupled with her personal experience as the parent of deaf children make Sharon the perfect candidate for Auditory-Verbal therapist.

“To be in a position to combine my professional experience with my personal experience as the mother of hearing impaired children is an amazing experience for me
